NEWCASTLE BROWN ALE

Newcastle is famous for its Tyne bridge. This towering steel structure straddles the river Tyne. One place not to be missed in Newcastle, is the Federation Brewery which recently crossed over the Tyne to Gateshead.

Newcastle Brown Ale has been brewed in Newcastle since 1927. It is a dark brown ale that is famous throughout the world. In Newcastle, local people often refer to the beer as ‘Dog’ or ‘Broon’. Locals use the phrase ‘I’m going to see a man about a dog’ as a euphemism for saying I’m going to the pub. Try out a pint of ‘Broon’ served in a 12 ounce Wellington glass. Consuming your beer in this way enables you to keep topping up your glass with a nice ‘frothy head’ to your pint. Newcastle people are famous for their sense of fun and their humour. Expect lots of laughs to be had whilst you are out and about.
