Bath is a must visit UK tourist destination. A real sense of history and tradition prevails as you walk along its cobbled streets. The Bath Spas which gave the town its name are now open up to the public. What better way to soak up some true British history than in these big Roman baths? For those with a sweet tooth, you will find many a treat in this city. A visit to the Traditional Sweet Shop will make you think that you have stepped back in time as you choose your sweets from the old-fashioned jars. Not enough sugar? Then try some good British Fudge from Jim Garryahs Fudge Kitchen, just one of the many Fudge shops in Bath. This is a beautiful city to visit to get a true glimpse of traditional England! by Elspeth Dransfield The sally lunn bun The oldest house in Bath dates back to 1483. Found right in the centre of Bath around the corner from the Abbey, the house is now dedicated to Sally Lunn. Sally Lunn a French refugee moved to Bath over 300 years ago and was soon to make her mark in its history. She is famous for her Sally Lunn Bun - a round doughy bread that can be served sweet or savoury. Visit the house for your morning coffee, lunch, or be truly English and have your afternoon tea. In the evenings the restaurant offers a historic 'trencher dinner'. All food is served on a Sally Lunn bun, as historically this would have been used instead of a plate. The cellars of the building are converted into a museum. Here you can see the kitchen that Sally Lunn herself used to bake her delicacy that was so popular in Georgian England. by Elspeth Dransfield Things to do: - Royal Photographic Society
