Visitors Guide to manchester

Manchester is Northern England’s largest city, and is certainly its most diverse. The city’s history is bound in the cotton mills of the Industrial Revolution and the characteristic red brick mills and warehouses echo its hard working past. Today, the industrial smog has lifted and Manchester is a lively and bustling city.

Thanks to serious regeneration, the shopping centre of Market Street has gone from high street drudgery to high street chic in the last ten years. If high street isn’t your thing, then don’t miss the achingly cool vintage shops in the Northern Quarter and the colourful chaos of Afflecks Palace; a quirky shopper’s Mecca covering four floors.

When night falls, stay around the city centre and check out the trendy bars at Deansgate Locks, or head out to the University bars around Oxford Road for a night out with a student-twist. For an ultra modern evening at the city’s only 'sky bar', head to Beetham Tower near Deansgate. The £150 million pound skyscraper is Manchester’s newest, and most talked about addition. Love it, or hate it, the dusk views of the city from Cloud 23 Bar (on the 23rd floor of course) are phenomenal.
