Visitors Guide to exeter

The historic city of Exeter is brimming with ancient charm, yet its modern amenities mean it has plenty to offer visitors. The majestic St Peter’s Cathedral dates back from Norman times and towers above the city and the surrounding Cathedral Close. This grassy area is the perfect place to relax during the warmer months whilst admiring the beautiful Georgian and Medieval houses which line it, or even dining al fresco in one of its many cafes. Exeter is the hub of Devon, renowned for its bustling activity with regular events, festivals, art shows and walking tours taking place. Delve into the town’s past and follow one the famous Exeter Red Coat tour guides.

Be sure to take the time to explore the surrounding countryside by cycling along the Exe Estuary trail along the South Devon coast; admire the picturesque English views of salt marshes and sleepy villages before soaking up the last rays of sun with a traditional cream tea in an old-fashioned pub. If you’re after some lively entertainment wander down to the Quay area. Its warehouses have been transformed into a hive of activity with an eclectic mix of clubs, pubs and restaurants guaranteed to keep you up all night.
