Visitors Guide to canterbury

If you’re seeking an alternative to the typical historical visit to Oxford, consider Canterbury a worthy rival. This beautiful city caters for all tastes. The large student population warrants the diverse and growing nightlife of the area. The Cathedral is one of Britain’s most visited tourist attractions and rightly so. As one of Canterbury’s areas granted world heritage status it is definitely worth a visit.

A short walk from the cathedral is “The Canterbury Tales,” a visitor attraction dedicated to the Christian pilgrimage of the Middle Ages famously written about by Geoffrey Chaucer. After you’ve been taken back to the Canterbury of yesteryear, emerge to see what Canterbury has to offer the 21st century. The city is a shopping haven. Away from the city centre, why not catch a bus to one of the nearby Victorian seaside towns, such as Herne Bay or Whitstable, for a well earned ice cream or a bag of fish and chips? For the perfect combination of ancient history and cosmopolitan energy, head this way.
